Chac Mool is the name of a type of stone statue found in ancient Mayan and Toltec civilizations. The statues appear to be reclining humans, often holding a tray or bowl over their stomachs. We can just imagine these statues holding trays of steamy, spicy hot cocoa, and that's why we've named our Spicy Hot Cocoa in their honor.
Trader Joe's Organic Fair Trade Chac Mool Spicy Hot Cocoa is rich in cocoa flavor, a little bit sweet, and kicked up on the spicy side with cinnamon and a bit of cayenne. We've sourced fairly traded cocoa and sugar from small-scale farms in Paraguay and the Dominican Republic to craft this Latin American favorite so you can make it in your home without having to go to the trouble of blending cocoa and spices with a mortar and pestle. Handy, right?
Folklore tells of ancient civilizations enjoying cocoa-based drinks with spices; with some hot milk and a spoon for stirring, you can enjoy it, too. And at a great price. We're selling each 12 ounce canister of Organic Fair Trade Chac Mool Spicy Hot Cocoa for $4.49, every day.
