Peaberry Coffee from Brazil

Peaberry Coffee From BrazilDecember 31, 2012 - Fearlessly Archived - Still a fun read, price & availability may have changed.

Peaberry beans are very rare, occurring at a rate of 5% or less in all coffee crops. In these rare instances, only one small bean inside the coffee cherry develops, rather than the normal two – a peaberry. These tiny beans are prized for their remarkable concentration of flavor.

Trader Joe's Limited Edition Peaberry from Brazil is grown in the Sul de Minas region of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, and features good body and fruity acidity. The beans are "pulped," which means that some of the "parchment" is left on the bean after the fleshy part of the coffee cherry is removed. The beans are dried in this state, resulting in nicely balanced coffee with hints of milk chocolate and nuts. We're selling each 13 ounce can of whole bean Peaberry from Brazil for $6.99, while it lasts.
